10 most common baby names of 2016
Although we all like to be different when it comes to choosing names, it is often the same few names that reach our top favourites.
Whilst old fashion names are coming back around (or maybe never left) the newer names may also be on the top of our list.
Names such as Mia, Layla and Ava may not have been heard of some years ago but seem to have been very popular throughout 2015 and 2016, however older names such as Noah, Henry and Jack are still going strong.
Older names are often a comfort to us as they have been passed down in the family generations.
Here are some of the top 10 girls and boys names from 2016:

Some more popular names were Madelyn, Lily, Emma, Abigail, Bella, Mila... and for the boys, Issac, Eli, Nathan, George, William and Mason.
Choosing a name is an exciting time during pregnancy as it can make you feel that your little one already has an identity and helps you picture their little personality... But despite choosing a name before hand often couples don't agree on one in particular. Even if you are both lucky enough to fall in love with the same name it may be sensible to have a couple of backup names incase it just doesn't 'suit' your baby when you first see them.
You should also consider how the name may be shortened into a nick name when they are older, and if the name compliments any middle names and the surname.
I hope some of the above may help you decide on the names that you do (or don't) want for your little one.
