Hi everyone and welcome to my very first blog. I wanted to make this an introduction about me, my new business and my very busy life!
It was about 4 years ago that I had that 'lightbulb' moment that everyone who feels lost in this manic world has been waiting for. I was sitting down with a family member going through some pictures from my recent holiday to Greece. It was pointed out to me that that my pictures were different and had an interesting feel! I wasn't really sure what was so different about them as they were only taken with the intention to show off the beautiful local beaches and the cocktail in my hand!...We all do this to make our Facebook friends jealous... right?!
After this comment about my pictures I started to remember the feeling that I got when I captured lovely images, ones that I was proud of and couldn't wait to go home to edit and share.
A few weeks later, as a birthday present I was blessed with a brand new camera (I am a canon girl from head to toe) and I enrolled in a taster photography class to see if it was really for me... well... I absolutely LOVED IT! Although parts were completely confusing and overwhelming I stuck with it and it was the best taste of anything I had ever had!
I went on to assist photographers at fashion shoots in London, gain myself a diploma in digital photography, complete a photoshop course, become a second shooter at weddings, and shoot smaller weddings on my own. However after all of that time and hard work I still felt a little lost about where my place was in the HUGE world of photography! ... I knew I needed to explore it from all sides! So, I started building a portfolio by offering free family sessions, taking pictures of friend's children and newborn babies (they seemed to be popping out wherever I looked)... and BINGO! I finally found my place, my passion and my dream!
I started to set up my photography business at the end of 2015, whilst running a home, juggling family life, a dog (or a baby in my eyes), planning my wedding, studying marketing and working full time in elderly care.. Life was busy, but I wouldn't of changed it for anything!
We are now almost half way through 2016. Annie Allen Photography is all set up and running.. and business is going well with bookings through to next year.
To say it has been a piece of cake would be very far from the truth.. but it has certainly all been worth it. I am very proud of how far I have come and I will continue to learn and grow more and more.
